The Sri Lanka Social Security Board is a state statutory body that has been operating since 1996 to protect the old age of the people who have contributed to the development of the country through social security and to obtain state pension benefits.
All the district secretariats and divisional secretariats of the island are implementing this program by informing the people and carrying out tasks such as membership and benefit payments.
Considering it as an additional duty to the main duty in the years 2023 and 2024 in Badulla and Monaragala districts, a service appreciation ceremony was held in Badulla Simon Peiris City Hall on 14.10.2025 in a grand manner for the public officials who dedicated themselves to convert the majority of the community who are used to dependency mentality to a contributory pension benefit system.
In it, 162 officers who completed the target in terms of highest annual recruitment amounts and financial values, achieved district level achievements and national level achievements were evaluated.
Under the financial section of the year 2023, Meegahakivula, Halielala and Passara divisional secretariats managed to get the district first place, second place and third place respectively.
Under the financial section of the year 2024, Haliala, Welimada and Pasara Divisional Secretariat won the district first place, second place and third place respectively and Welimada Divisional Secretariat succeeded to achieve a national level victory by occupying the third place among the Divisional Secretariat Divisions that made the most recruitments in Hadivaine.
Badulla district in the year 2024 has achieved two national level achievements by occupying the third place in the country in terms of recruitment and the second place in the country in terms of financial values.
Badulla District Secretary Mr. Panduka Sri Prabhat Abeywardena, Chairman of Sri Lanka Social Security Board Mr. MKB Dissanayake, Badulla Mayor Mr. Nandana Hapugoda and many government officials including Divisional Secretaries and Assistant Divisional Secretaries participated in this evaluation ceremony.
