The "Jeshta Purawasi Abhinandana" District Elders' Celebration, jointly organized by the Badulla District Secretariat and the District Elders' Council in conjunction with the International Day of the Elderly, was held on 21.10.2025 at the Badulla Simon Peiris Town Hall under the patronage of the Badulla District Secretary, Mr. Prabath Abeywardena.

The celebration was attended by about 300 senior citizens from 15 Elders' Councils in Badulla District. The mothers who gave birth to the largest number of children and the centenarian parents were also recognized.

The celebration was held with the aim of promoting the physical and mental well-being of the elderly community in the district and developing their artistic abilities.

The Badulla District Elder Rights Promotion Officer, Mrs. Sandhya Kumari and the Chairman of the District Elders' Council, Mr. W. M. Dissanayake coordinated this program and a group of officers including the Assistant District Secretary participated in this program.
